Departing from Villeneuve les Avignon, you ride through Provence to discover its most beautiful landscapes, while enjoying the comfort of the most luxurious hotels in the region.

We have decided to take you to discover the authentic Provence. During this stay, you will discover the vineyards of Provence as well as its most beautiful villages, all of it lulled by the song of the cicadas and the scents of lavender. You cycle through a hilly land of ​​great landscape diversity.

Often perched, the villages of Provence dominate the vineyards and the surrounding plains. They also offer majestic views.
During this route, you pass through 5 villages classified as “Most beautiful villages in France“: the medieval villages of Séguret and Venasque, the Provençal charm of the village of Gordes, Roussillon also called the ocher village of Luberon, and finally the famous village of Baux de Provence. Even if the ascent to these villages can be demanding, you will soon be rewarded!

Day 1

VILLENEUVE LEZ AVIGNON

Welcome to the heart of Provence.
If you don’t arrive too late, take advantage of this day to discover the medieval city of Villeneuve les Avignon. The historic town center of Avignon is remarkable. Take enough time to walk on the beautiful streets of the city.
At the end of the day, you will meet our guide for a briefing before the start of your trip.

Before your first ride, we invite you to meet one of our guides, at your place of departure. A time of exchange, a privileged moment to give you our last practical tips, must-see places and experiences, to answer all your questions, take care of your bike fitting to begin your trip.

Day 2

From VILLENEUVE LEZ AVIGNON to UCHAUX 63km 398m Niveau Loisir

From Villeneuve les Avigon, you pedal for a bit before you see the famous Pont d’Avignon. You then reach the Isle of Barthelasse, the largest river island in Europe, located between the two arms of the Rhône. Leaving Avignon, you enter the vineyards of the most famous appellation of Côtes du Rhône wines. Small wine roads take you to Chateauneuf du Pape, where you can stop in a cellar and visit its Wine Museum. You then arrive in Orange, a prime example of a Roman city: its Arc de Triomphe and its Ancient Theater, listed as World Heritage by UNESCO, bear witness to its past. To end this first day of cycling, you cross the Uchaux forest. Once in the hotel, you can take full advantage of the swimming pool or even the Spa.

Day 3

From UCHAUX to CRILLON LE BRAVE 50km 506m Niveau Loisir

You leave Uchaux by small roads which lead you to the Plan de Dieu vineyard. Plan de Dieu is one of seventeen geographical names within the appellation of controlled origin of the Côtes-du-Rhône villages. You continue your way to Vacqueyras. In this charming village, you walk through narrow alleys that lead you to the surrounding walls of the castle and the church. Mainly agricultural, Vacqueyras produces one of the three great Côtes du Rhône grand crus and its vineyard stretches to the bottom of the Dentelles de Montmirail mountain chain. A few more pedal strokes and you arrive at Beaumes de Venise, a small town in which to revitalize. At the end of the day, you reach Crillon le Brave to spend the night in one of the most beautiful hotels in the region offering breathtaking views of the majestic Mont-Ventoux.

Day 4

From CRILLON LE BRAVE to GORDES 50km 964m Niveau Forme

Your day starts between the vines. You cross Saint-Didier, a small peaceful village in the middle of the Monts de Vaucluse before joining Venasque, one of the 126 most beautiful villages in France. In this medieval village at the foot of Mont Ventoux, you will discover small steep alleys, golden stone houses, but also the Notre-Dame cathedral church and a magnificent baptistery from the 11th century. It is in the heart of the lavender fields that you discover the Notre-Dame de Sénanque Abbey. It has been encircled since the 12th century in the hollow of its Provencal valley. Take advantage of this postcard landscape to rest and take some souvenir photos. To end the day, after a small effort to climb to the village of Gordes, you once again reach a high quality hotel where you can fully rest.

Day 5

GORDES, "THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGES OF FRANCE" LOOP 45km 481m Niveau Loisir

Two villages classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France are placed along your loop today. The day begins calmly. You must first descend the hill on which stands the village of Gordes. Then you reach Roussillon, a charming village built on top of an ocher cliff. It offers a perfect harmony of colors with its stones, roofs, and facades saturated in the same red tones as the surrounding landscapes. A short walk on the ocher trail is definitely worth the detour. You then pass through the foothills of the Luberon mountains to reach the second unmissable village of your day, Ménerbes. Among its assets, a breathtaking view of the Luberon and the Monts de Vaucluse, but also proud alleys lined with 18th century mansions and old houses. Also, we now come to visit its unusual Corkscrew Museum or taste the wines of Côtes du Luberon in the sumptuous Truffle and Wine House.

Day 6

From GORDES to LES BAUX DE PROVENCE 60km 423m Niveau Forme

You cross part of the Luberon Regional Natural Park to reach Cavaillon. This city with a remarkable historical heritage is perched on a green hill. Greek and then Roman, Cavaillon has preserved the traces of its past. You continue your journey and arrive at Eygalière, in the heart of the Alpilles Massif. Surrounded by olive trees, green valleys and vineyards, this village offers extraordinary landscapes. You then reach Saint-Rémy de Provence, whose unique light has inspired many artists, writers and painters such as Vincent Van Gogh. You end your day by climbing the hill which will take you to the village of Les Baux de Provence. Take a few moments to visit this city of character and enjoy exceptional landscapes of Arles, the Camargue and the Alpilles.

Day 7

From LES BAUX DE PROVENCE to AVIGNON 59km 291m Niveau Loisir

Today head north to reach Avignon, city of Popes. On your way, you cross the Barbentane forest and the Montagnette massif from where stands the Abbey of St Michel de Frigolet. This Abbey takes its name from the word thyme, “ferigoule” in Provençal, which grows everywhere on the hills. You can’t talk about Frigolet Abbey without talking about “reverend Père Gaucher’s elixir” or the beautiful golden-green Frigolet liqueur made with Montagnette herbs. Your route will then go over the Rhône before reaching Avignon. You will fall under the spell of its old streets, its restored medieval ramparts and its immense Palais des Papes.
