The perfumes of Provence
The ochres of Roussillon
Gordes, ranked among the most beautiful villages in France p>
At the heart of the Luberon Regional Nature Park, guided by the Coulon valley, ride at your own pace on this Provençal route full of colors and flavors …
The Luberon opens its doors. Its charming little roads and paths will charm your ears, by the song of the cicadas, your nose, by the scents of lavender and your eyes by the ochre colors. You will cycle through a hilly terrain of great landscape diversity.
From the small town of Cavaillon, you will crisscross the charming Luberon for 4 days. You will be amazed by the clarity of the Fontaine de Vaucluse, dazzled by the brightness of Gordes and surprised by the ochres of Roussillon.
The smell of scrubland and lavender will inebriate you.
And why not try the tasty honey from the famous bluish flower?
From Cavaillon you ease into the day, this small distance allows you to soak up the charm of Provence. Quickly you attain the Sorgue that you ride along until reaching its source and its famous fountain! Here 630 million cubic meters of water flow each ear to feed the most beautiful river of the French department. Let yourself be cradled by the flow of the water during this first night at the foot of the mountains of Vaucluse and Luberon.
Activity-wise this is a whole new day. The hilly terrain requires more effort but the road is beautiful! You reach the village of Lagnes and enjoy its medieval charm. Then a bucolic road, through woods, vineyards and lavender, leads you to the heart of the Luberon Regional Natural Park. A last “ascent” and you will reach Roussillon-en-Provence! This “Most Beautiful Village of France” owes its fame to its ochres which gives the color to the houses.
The objective for the third Provençal day: reach one of its architectural jewels, Gordes! Village also classified “Most Beautiful Village of France”, Gordes dominates the plain of Cavaillon and the valley of Calavon. It is easy to understand that several famous artists drew their inspiration from this luminous atmosphere (Marc Chagall, Victor Vasarely or Pol Mara). If you feel so inspired (as well as your legs) continue to the Cliff of the Madeleine (+ 10km); this raw geological jewel impresses with its scale. Back to Roussillon for the night.
Gently you will go back to the heart of the valley. The Calavon cycling route that goes along the river of the same name, takes you to Cavaillon.
End of the stay in the afternoon in Cavaillon.

Hello Natalie, We are now back in Sweden from our bicycle tour in Normandy. I would just like to give you some feed back from the tour: We were all very satisfied with the trip. When planning the trip, we found it very easy to work with you, quick answers and good flexibility for our ideas. Excellent choice of roads, which took us through the fantastic landscapes of Normandy, and also along the fashinating see shores ending with the first D-day shore. Most roads with very little traffic. We also appreciated the kindness of all french drivers who never complained although we sometimes were in the middle of the small narrow roads. The distances was OK for all of us. When there was a choice of long or short distances, we always selected the long ones. Easy to find the roads with the excellent GPS and the very good Road Book. We also appreciated the very good choice of B&B, places where we felt wellcome and with good standard. A trip we will recommend to our friends. We also had good luck with the weather, lots of sun, not to strong winds, just one or two showers in daytime. (Was the weather also organised by you??) With Best Regards (05/2017)
That was really the best vacation we ever had! Where should we go this summer? I would love to do another trip this year. Do you have any great itinerary ideas for us? We have 7 inches of snow here right now, and the temperature is MINUS 5 degree F. with a windchill of MINUS 19! Chilly!! xxx (07/2009)
Hi David Just wanted to mention again what a wonderful trip we had along the Loire in Brittany . We loved the food, and the itineraries were just right (...) Cheers Trevor (11/2018)
Hello again Nathalie (...) It was wonderful and we so appreciated everything you organized to make it so. (...) The hotel was first class, lovely comfortable room and delicious breakfast......5* (...) Your maps and directions were excellent and we only got lost a couple of times! Don't forget to tell your clients about the beautiful gardens....Le Jardins Botanique de la Boirie at Saint Pierre Ile d'Oleron. They are amazing and not to be missed! Journeys over the bridges were thrilling and we especially liked the Ile de Re....we might have to return there one day! Again our thanks Nathalie. We'll be in touch for next year. Sincerely, Brenda & Michael (09/2018)
