The story behind the trip
Valentin Chapalain, travel advisor at Abicyclette Voyages, has been passionate about Denmark and more broadly all the Scandinavian countries since he was 8 years old. Since 2010, he has undertaken many journeys among the Vikings and knows each region of the country perfectly:

The Danish islands with the family between sea, ports and countryside
In a loop around Svendborg, you set off with your family to discover the pretty and peaceful Danish islands of Funen and Ærø.
This bike trip is for families who want to discover Denmark and get a taste of Scandinavia. In 7 days, you travel through two of the most beautiful Danish islands: the island of Funen (Fyn in Danish) nicknamed the garden of Denmark, and Ærø, a small island with natural beaches and fairy-tale villages. In the saddle, you travel through charming landscapes over short distances that appeal to young and old alike. Loop days, flat routes without difficulty, numerous cycling facilities offer you an easy and accessible trip with the family, even if you have very young children.
The sea and the islands are omnipresent during your cycling trip in Denmark. Between the island of Funen, the third largest in the country and Ærø, the most beautiful island in the south of the country, you sail to discover the Danish archipelago. Along the route, unspoilt beaches lined with forests invite you to swim in the Baltic Sea. Despite the latitude, the water temperature remains pleasant, between 17 and 20°C in summer. Ideal for families to combine cycling with the joys of swimming.
On the island Ærø, the seaside tracks are numerous and superb and offer you beautiful one-on-one with the Baltic Sea. Around Faaborg and Svendborg, a myriad of islands and islets provide an opportunity for timeless stops in the middle of the tides.
Denmark is a cycling country and the facilities reflect this. On the island of Funen and on Ærø, you most often cycle on dedicated tracks or on small roads allowing you to ride carefree. Undeniably, the density of the cycle network is an asset of choice for riding without fear with the children. Combined with the beauty of the landscapes, this cycling holiday lends itself to a beautiful family odyssey in the land of fairy tales.
Itinerary
Leisure or Easy SVENDBORG 36km 
Departing from Svendborg, you set off on a beautiful loop around the islands of Thurø and Tåsinge. The route is flat and safe. You ride from beach to beach, nestled in wooded landscapes. Valdemar Castle and the charming little town of Troense with its typical houses are well worth a stop. Between the two islands, you take the boat with your bikes.

From SVENDBORG to MARSTAL 29km
Take the ferry from Svendborg to Ærø, one of Denmark’s most beautiful islands. You’ll arrive in Ærøskøbing, with its maze of cobbled streets and well-preserved old houses, all beautifully decorated with flowers. The beaches are perfect for swimming before cycling to Marstal, in the east of the island. The route is magnificent, almost exclusively along the coast on small paths away from traffic. Overnight stay in Marstal.
From MARSTAL to FAABORG 36km
You leave Marstal via bucolic trails towards the south of the island of Ærø. Stops on the island’s wild beaches punctuate your ride. Halfway there, don’t miss the terraced cliffs of Voderup Klint facing the Baltic Sea. Beautiful white churches such as the one in Bregninge are also along the way. At Søby, take the ferry to Faaborg, where you will spend the night.
FAABORG 30km
There are several options for the day. Fåborg is a pleasant and charming town with a harbor and a harbor bath, and the town has several very interesting museums.
The first option takes you to Svanninge Bakker, one of the most exciting nature areas in Funen. On the way, you pass Kaleko Mill and the small village of Diernæs. Along the route, you travel through dense forests and discover Brahetrolleborg Castle with its beautiful rhododendron park. From Brahetrolleborg, with a keen eye or binoculars, you can see the famous Viking castle Jim Lyngvild, Ravnsborg.
FAABORG
Free day in Faaborg. You have the option of visiting one of the small islands in the archipelago off Faaborg (Bjørnø, Lyø and Avernakø) by ferry. Each island has its own atmosphere and the people who live there live in close contact with the surrounding nature.
From FAABORG to SVENDBORG 33km
You cycle along the southern coast of the island of Funen between Faaborg and Svendborg. Bucolic, the course offers you coastal portions brightened up with small coves where it is nice to stop for a picnic and swim. Alternately you cycle through the middle of the woods and breathe in the pleasantly scented air of the forest.

Booking and payment
- Departure more than 30 days before your booking: payment of a deposit of 30%, excluding insurance, at the time of booking. If you have taken out travel insurance, it must be paid in full at the time of booking to guarantee its validity.
- Departure within 30 days of your booking: payment of the total cost of your stay. Or payment of the balance of the holiday if you have already paid a deposit.
Cancellation of the Contract
You may cancel the Contract at any time before the start of the Tour, subject to payment of a cancellation fee. Any total or partial cancellation will incur the following costs per participant:
