This journey at the heart of Europe suggests you a tour with signposted roads and easy and flat cobblestone paths along the Elbe.
You reach Melnik, a wine producer region. You carry on driving through fertile lands in Litomerice, where there are beautiful Gothic houses.
The most impressive part of this journey is the region called Bohemian Switzerland, where you drive along the sandstone cliffs which border the river.
On the German part, the road development quality is living up to its reputation. It is very relaxing and enables to reach pleasantly the rebuilt city of Dresden.
Arrival and overnight in Prague.
After breakfast, you will be met at your hotel by our representative, who will introduce you the program and hand over the bikes and information materials. A short car transfer brings you to the Troja Palace, on the outskirts of Prague. From the palace, you begin cycling along the Vltava river. After you get out of town the landcapes are changing. In the afternoon you discover the first vineyards. Melnik is the main wine growing center in Bohemia (west part of Czech Republic). Melnik’s renaissance palace looks out over confluence of the Vltava and Elbe Rivers, and the view goes down well with the wine.
Today’s stage takes you to the beautiful cities of Roudnice nad Labem and Libechov, with its remarkable palaces and gardens. You carry on your way to reach places full of history, from dark hours of the XXe century. The Terezin fortress is a memorial of the Shoah.
The beautiful architecture of Litomerice, the biggest city of this region, brings you more playfulness to end this great bike day.
Cycle along the valley of the Elbe River, with the hills rising ever higher above you.
Be sure to look out for the ruins of Strekov Castle, high above the river, before arriving in Usti nad Labem. Today’s route finishes in Decin, the last larger town before the frontier with Germany.
Today is easy day in terms of lenght. You ride along the German border, then it is on to Bad Schandau. Today’s ride goes through the incredible landscape of the Bohemian / Saxon Switzerland area, following the forested river valley through the incredible sandstone formations.
Over millions of years the river Elbe has carved intricate formations in the sandstone of the area. We invite you to get off your bikes in the Czech border town of Hrensko, and climb up to the Pravcika brana, the largest natural stone arch in Europe. Bad Schandau, as its name suggests, is a thermal city and where you can make use of the spa facilities, or just enjoy the town’s quiet genteel atmosphere while watching the boats go by.
Continue on through the sandstone formations of Saxon Switzerland. As you journey along the Elbe river valley you will might want to climb to the impressive Bastei Rock formation above the spa town of Rathen. By bike, you ride on the Elbe and reach the fortress of Koningstein. You go through peaceful meadows and precious wetlands to Dresde.
Sightseeing is recommended in Dresden this day. No visitor to Dresden should miss – the
Zwinger Pavilion, The Frauenkirche Church, the Semper Opera House as well as the Royal Palace.

Hello Natalie, We are now back in Sweden from our bicycle tour in Normandy. I would just like to give you some feed back from the tour: We were all very satisfied with the trip. When planning the trip, we found it very easy to work with you, quick answers and good flexibility for our ideas. Excellent choice of roads, which took us through the fantastic landscapes of Normandy, and also along the fashinating see shores ending with the first D-day shore. Most roads with very little traffic. We also appreciated the kindness of all french drivers who never complained although we sometimes were in the middle of the small narrow roads. The distances was OK for all of us. When there was a choice of long or short distances, we always selected the long ones. Easy to find the roads with the excellent GPS and the very good Road Book. We also appreciated the very good choice of B&B, places where we felt wellcome and with good standard. A trip we will recommend to our friends. We also had good luck with the weather, lots of sun, not to strong winds, just one or two showers in daytime. (Was the weather also organised by you??) With Best Regards (05/2017)
Dear Fabien, Thank you very much for your interest. Thanks to the good one to do, the enthusiasm and the explanations of the guide, today the first day we have completed the first stage successfully in spite of being experienced neither at bicycles nor in GPS. Incredible!!! Thank you very much. A greeting Martha (08/2017)
