The Bergerac vineyard
The Dordogne river and castles
Belvès, one of the most beautiful villages in France

Cycling through Purple and Black Périgord into a country of wine, castles and fortified towns
This trip offers a variety of landscapes: winding climbs and descents under the shade of deep forests, beautiful panoramas at a bend in the road, old stones turned golden by the sun, castle and prehistoric caves.
From Bergerac, the capital of Périgord Pourpre (Purple Périgord), you cycle through many villages, including some of the “most beautiful villages in France”. Make a halt in Sarlat, a medieval architectural jewel.
Your journey takes you to Eyzies-de-Tayac, a great prehistoric site, and to some of the many castles of these lands.
Welcome to Bergerac.
Discover the vineyards of Bergerac and Monbazillac. After the climbing the hills you will arrive at the castle of Monbazillac, high place for the tasting of this world-renowned sweet white wine. From here, you overlook Bergerac and its valley. After dabbling on the small vineyard roads, you will dive into Bergerac and its old town for an excellent evening.
Day of the rivers. Leave Bergerac in the morning to stroll along small roads lost in the middle of forests and meadows. You undulate in these fresh landscapes, crossing authentic Perigord villages huddled around their often fortified steeples. After a few spins of the wheels, you arrive on the “cingles”, This is the name we give to the meanders of the Dordogne. Your day becomes more sporty but you are rewarded by magnificent views and you can swim at the confluence of Vézère and Dordogne in Limeuil, one of the most beautiful villages in France.
A day through mountains and valleys. After a few kilometers, you will arrive at Eyzies-de-Tayac, the world capital of prehistory, city of Cro-Magnon, you will surely see him near his cave! After having greeted him, you will pedal in cool valleys along the wild rivers of the region where trout like to rest. A visit to the castle of Commarque will leave you with an impression of the Middle Ages and pretty villages with flagstone roofs, you rejoin Sarlat, a medieval jewel.
A loop to discover the cingle of Monfort and its castle, and the Domme fortified town, medieval town perched at 300 m altitude above the river. Make time to stroll through Sarlat and lose yourself in its charming streets and squares.
This is the day of the castles. Leave early because you are put through the wringer! After leaving Sarlat, you find the Dordogne valley in La Roque-Gageac, one of the most beautiful villages in France. Once explored, you enter the valley of the castles, Beynac, Castelnau, Marqueyssac, Fayrac, Milandes … the choice is yours! You end your day in a hilltop town, Belvès, another of the most beautiful villages in France.
You cross large wild expanses punctuated by pretty little villages with a church here, a covered market there, further down a beautiful home to arrive at Beaumont du Périgord, an English fortified town of the 13th century, dominated by its immense fortified church. You resume your journey by the beautiful valley of Couze, a river with many mills and pure water. You cannot return to Bergerac without before having admired the castle of Bannes, marvel of medieval architecture, perched on its rocky outcrop and the castle of Lanquais, the unfinished Louvre of Périgord. On your arrival, find the life of the streets of the beautiful city of Bergerac.
It’s the end of your stay after breakfast. Have a good journey home!

Dear Fabien, All the tour was very good and amusing. Beautiful landscape, nice people, good hotels and food. I take this occasion to give you my congratulation for the very well organized tour we had. Was e real pleasure to bike in Bretagne. I would also like to thank you for the support and assistance you provided me for my incident Thank you for your professional and human attitude you have in doing your job and I hope to bike again with your organization. Please say hallo to your colleague, monsieur ….. (I don’t remember his name) that accompanied me with the car to St-Brieuc. Best regards (07/2012)
Hello Natalie, We are now back in Sweden from our bicycle tour in Normandy. I would just like to give you some feed back from the tour: We were all very satisfied with the trip. When planning the trip, we found it very easy to work with you, quick answers and good flexibility for our ideas. Excellent choice of roads, which took us through the fantastic landscapes of Normandy, and also along the fashinating see shores ending with the first D-day shore. Most roads with very little traffic. We also appreciated the kindness of all french drivers who never complained although we sometimes were in the middle of the small narrow roads. The distances was OK for all of us. When there was a choice of long or short distances, we always selected the long ones. Easy to find the roads with the excellent GPS and the very good Road Book. We also appreciated the very good choice of B&B, places where we felt wellcome and with good standard. A trip we will recommend to our friends. We also had good luck with the weather, lots of sun, not to strong winds, just one or two showers in daytime. (Was the weather also organised by you??) With Best Regards (05/2017)
Hello new friends, I wish to say "thank you for a great time and good-bye for now". I missed saying so to most of you yesterday. all the best (05/2013)
