Prestigious vineyards of Pomerol, Pauillac, Margaux...
Saint-Emilion, part of UNESCO's world heritage
Bordeaux, capital of wine and buzzing city
Cycling through some of the most prestigious vineyards in the world
From the lovely town of Bergerac you cycle down the Dordogne and Gironde rivers to reach some of the most prestigious vineyards. Among the most famous are Pauillac, Margaux, Saint-Emilion…
On small roads it is a journey through vineyards, nature and wine cellars. It is an opportunity to discover more about the culture and making of wines and enjoy a few tastings.
The architectural heritage is as impressive as the wine. You ride between “castles” of all sizes. In the evening you stay insmall towns of character where you can also taste gourmet local cuisine. Saint-Emilion, a renowed city of wine with a beautiful historical architecture, is part of UNESCO’s World Heritage!
The journey continues to Bordeaux, the “Sleeping Beauty”. Since this nickname was given to her, the city has woken up, its streets and cellars are lively and yours to enjoy!
Our guide welcomes you on the first day. If you arrive in the morning or early afternoon, hop on your bike for a first loop to the vineyards of Pécharmant. This robust red wine has a dark garnet color, well worth a tasting! In the evening, enjoy the charming town of Bergerac and its lively streets.
You ride along the south shore of the Dordogne River throughout the day. Leaving the city of Cyrano, you ride through the vineyards of Bergerac and Monbazillac. Monbazillac is the pride of the region. This sweet white wine marvelously accompanies aperitif, foie gras and cheeses like Bleu or Roquefort. No doubt you will find some on your table! Halfway, you reach the fortified city of Sainte-Foy-la-Grande: an ideal spot for lunch. You are at the Gironde’s front door and about to enter into the lands of Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur. The road continues along the river. Your stop for the night in the heart of vineyards and nature.
You cross the Dordogne and after a few kilometers, you are in the middle vineyards, as far as your eyes can see. On small roads you ride between prestigious Chateaux and reach Saint-Emilion. The town is a part of UNESCO’s World Heritage. Enjoy the evening to discover this fascinating city.
A day through prestigious vineyards. After leaving Saint-Emilion and its great wines you ride through the vineyard of Pomerol. It is known for famous wines such as Petrus, Le Pin, La Conseillante, Gazin and many others. In Libourne, an important port, discover a 13th century Bastide. With its mound Fronsac enjoys a privileged position. Enjoy the Bourg and its charming streets above the harbor. Wonderful places of the right bank of the Dordogne with less prestigious red wines but equally interesting!
You ride 55 km, including 5 to cross the Gironde by boat. It forms at the confluence of the Dordogne and the Garonne rivers, a few kilometers upstream. You arrive in the land of Medoc and its red wines: Saint-Julien and its 11 Grands Crus, Pauillac and 18 great wines, Saint-Estephe the northernmost of the Médoc AOP (PDO - Protected Designation of Origin).
After riding through the vineyards of Pauillac and Saint-Julien, you reach Margaux. It is the largest and southernmost of the Medoc designations (POD). Margaux gathers 21 castles, the largest number of classified wines in the Medoc. You reach Bordeaux by the Garonne riverbanks and ride on bike paths that take you to the historical heart of this beautiful city. On an evening, you can enjoy the city's attractions including its many wine cellars where you find all the names crossed over this great week.
